Amalfi
Campania, IT
Even without climbing, the Amalfi Coast is well worth a visit, as it is one of the most enchanting areas of Italy. Arriving from Naples, one follows the road in the direction of Sorrento, which leads up onto a small pass. From there, it continues down via serpentines on said coast. Behind every one of those curves another breathtaking panoramic view appears. On one side lies the sea with scattered islands, the other side is characterized by terrace like rock formations. From Positano to Amalfi, every now and then the road leads past coastal villages with magical appeal. At times they blend in so well with the cliffs they seem to literally levitate above the sea. A passing climber will immediately notice the abundance of seemingly untouched limestone walls. In reality, many excellent crags have been developed but the potential has not nearly been exhausted yet.
