The nice and easily accessible climbs near the Grimsel Hostel are often unjustly ignored. For the moment, you might want to check it out, but the planned construction to increase the height of the dam by 2025 will most likely adversely affect the popularity of the area. By then, with the inevitable higher water level, you might just be more inclined to go swimming instead… If you for sure want to end up back at the Hospiz (mountain hostel), you need to be able to free climb at the obligatory grade. Unfortunately, the existing fixed protection is for the most part quite rusted and in poor condition.
