Falzarego

The strongly structured, porous dolomite blocks of the bouldering area Falzarego are scattered around a beautifully situated eld. Apart from hikers and numerous groundhogs, one is usually by themselves. The area offers steep climbing on big jugs in the lower and middle difficulties. The area seems idyllic today but during the Great War it used to be a hard fought for front-line bet- ween Austria-Hungary and Italy. In the process of securing the pass, numerous galleries and caverns were built into the mountain. Today, the tunnels have been restored and can be accessed as part of three open-air museums.
