Valdehuesa

Castile-Leon, ES

This area is located in the peaceful and beautiful valley of Valdehuesa, a major climbing area on the southern slope of the Cordillera Cantábrica. In the 90s it was the epicenter of climbing in León, becoming an area frequently visited by both locals and climbers from other areas. Nowdays its use is limited, and the area is a quiet place to climb, except on certain weeks of the year. Valdehuesa is notable for its variety of routes of all grades, spread over numerous sectors and rock strips in a beautiful, natural setting. Best season: Autumn and spring. In winter, weather-permitting, it can be climbed in the sun between 11:00 and 16:00. In summer, the sun disappears from the main wall at around 18:00, and earlier in the right- hand sectors.
