Rofan
Tyrol,
Everybody driving from Innsbruck to the east
will soon pass Jenbach. From here, there are two
possibilities to reach a few of the top climbing
spots in Tyrol: Going south, one reaches Zillertal
and driving north, the Achensee. Whoever opts
for the latter, will find a true limestone paradise
near Rofan. The rock in fact is so compact
it does not have to fear the comparison with the
famous classic crags in southern France. Near
the top station of the cable car there are numerous
options for all tastes: almost all areas are
well suited for families and beginners as well.
There are a few challenges for ambitious climbers
as well, though. Striking is the remaining
potential for new crags on offer. The only fly in
the ointment is the lofty price for the cable car,
which will, however, be forgotten soon given the
unique rocks and landscape.
