Joderhorn (plaisir)

Wallis, CH

The approach is long. No wonder since it even leads over the border into Italy! The beautiful landscape can be covered quicker on a mountain bike. From the Montemoro Pass you have magnificent views of the east face of Monte Rosa, one of the longest walls in the Alps. The swiss side of the Joderhorn is not appealing to climbers at all. It is nothing but scree fields and rubble heaps. The italian side is much more so: The SE Ridge has quality granite and fun climbing all the way to the summit. Che Bello! If you would rather avoid the long approach, catch the aerial tram in the Italian town of Macugnaga and you will be at the base of the route in 30 minutes or so.
