Cummingston

Scotland, GB

Superb compact crag bouldering, though the coastal situation means conditions can be fickle – an onshore breeze on a sunny day at low tide is perfect. The bouldering offers technical walls, fierce crimping and butch pocket-pulling on a hard orange sandstone of the Triassic era. The crags have been climbed on for years, the bouldering was kicked off by Nick Clement (off-duty from the RAF) and an original guide was produced by Pete Hill, and further developed by Charlie Hornsby, Liam Johnston, Iain MacDonald, Dave Wheeler and others. Most of the bouldering is on the crags and finishes at juggy climb-downs or jump-offs. Please note beach levels can vary dramatically to change the height and grade of problems. Watch your jump-offs and descents.
