Siccar Point

Scotland, GB

The walls of St Helen’s Chapel are built up of a combination of locally sourced rocks – red sandstone and greywacke. This ‘unconformity’ was a hint for geologist James Hutton, who in 1788 found proof of his ‘uniformitarian’ theory in the geological angular mismatch of nearby Siccar Point. The harder grey sandstone in the area is perfect for bouldering and this venue was opened by Pierre Fuentes in 2015. It’s a fine spot for summer bouldering.
