Whangie

Scotland, GB

This unusual split crag is a popular Sunday walk destination on Auchineden Hill just north of Glasgow. It sports a grand view of Loch Lomond and the Southern Highlands and is an enjoyable 25-30 minute walk or so from the parking at Queen’s View. The basalt is not the best quality and can be shattered in parts, so take care, but there are a number of good established problems where the rock is better, described here. It’s a pleasant and relaxed venue for a summer evening and a good spot to go with the family for a picnic and boulder.
