Panorama

Peloponnese, GR

__Panorama__ is a shady crag with exceptional views located further up and to the right of sector Élona, at an altitude of 700m. Panorama and Nifada are the two crags at the highest level of the valley of Dafnon river. The cool, peaceful setting of Panorama coupled with its northern exposure could make it one of the most popular sectors in Leonidio, especially for climbing on hot days. However, the bolting on some of the routes is mediocre, even poor on occasion, with runout sections and incorrectly placed bolts. All that being said, at the time of this publication (late 2020) some corrective rebolting is taking place. So hopefully the routes at Panorama will soon be safer. __Climbing__ On mostly vertical or slightly overhanging white, grey, and orange limestone. The climbing is very technical, dynamic, and cruxy, mainly on walls with occasional small tufas, small roofs or bulges, and sometimes sharp holds. Grades range from 7a+ to 8a, with some ultra-technical routes of particular interest around 7a+ / 7b. Nearly all routes were bolted in 2013 by Michael Schreiber and Christian Wahle. __Gear__ A single 70m rope + 20 QDs for longer routes. __Conditions__ Good for climbing on hot days, especially from April to November. The mountainous location and elevation make it good for climbing on summer afternoons, too. __Shade (Exposure: NE)__ After 11:00 or 12:00. __Kids__ Not bad, but as always, make sure the kids are never near or directly below any person climbing.
