Olympos

Peloponnese, GR

__Olympos__ is high above the terracotta rooftops of Leonidio: eye-catching cliffs rising from three natural terraces, where the old path leading to the plateau above town used to run past. The terraces are perfectly flat for comfortable belaying in the shade, and the view is spectacular and very photogenic. Also featured here is sub-sector __Blasphemia__, a small crag in an overhanging red cave with colonettes just beneath the plateau that’s good for powerful, short bouldery routes. __Climbing__ On deep red rock that is in parts rough and broccoli-like, dusty, or decorated with long tufa snakes. The eight routes on the left side are vertical on slabs or dihedrals (5c–7a), while the remaining 23 routes on the middle and right feature very steep climbing on overhangs and some long tufa snakes (mostly 6b–8a). __Gear__ A single 70m rope + 18 QDs (Olympos), or a single 60m rope + 12 QDs (Blasphemia). __Conditions__ Good for climbing on spring and fall afternoons or on winter mornings. Protected from light rainfall. __Shade (Exposure: S, SE)__ At Olympos, after 13:00. At Blasphemia, after 15:00. __Kids__ No.
