King of Thrones

Peloponnese, GR

__King of Thrones__ is a U-shaped cliff on the hill where three stone windmills look over the valley entrance east of Leonidio. The main crag has the rare privilege of being close to town but still in the shade almost all day long. There are two sub-sectors: Dornröschen, a compact grey slab with 27 routes, and Peace (app only), a newly developed smaller cliff. __Climbing__ At King of Thrones, steep tufa routes but sharp grey rock, too. At Dornröschen, a compact grey slab with mostly easier routes. (Dornröschen is a good crag for warming up in the morning, before going to King of Thrones for the rest of the day.) At Peace, a red /grey wall at the end of a difficult scree approach with six short routes (5c–6c+). __Gear__ A single 60m rope + 15 QDs. __Conditions__ King of Thrones is cooler, so it’s good for warm days. Dornröschen is warmer and exposed to the elements. __Shade (Exposure: NW, SW)__ Until 16:00 or even all day, depending on season, at King of Thrones. Until 11:00 at Dornröschen. __Kids__ A steep path, but flat terrain when you get there.
