Newstones & Baldstones

Peak District, GB

Newstones and Baldstones are really two parts of an intermittent line of outcrops spanning along a secluded ridge. Combined, they make a good day out. On its own, the Newstones has a great selection of easy problems and a couple of highball frighteners and its a particularly nice spot for an evening session. The eliminate potential is massive, so the problems listed are the most independent lines only. The landings are flat and grassy at both venues and the rock is of good quality. All grit is prone to local peculiarities and Newstones has got a sprinkling of weird veins and protruding armour plate things that makes much of the climbing that bit different and interesting. However, under the hard skin, the rock around here is very soft, so please brush any problems with great care, or preferably not at all. Please avoid when damp.
