Zervreilahorn (Extrem)

Ostschweiz,

The Zervreilahorn, the Matterhorn of Graubunden, sits majestically enthroned high above the isolated Valser Valley (tal). We usually try to be somewhat sparing with our praises, but the climbing you will find in the steep South Face is worth all and more and will exceed your expectations. Reddish bomber granite, dihedrals, cracks, and slabs make this wonderful area a draw for even the most picky granite climbers. Unfortunately, or perhaps thankfully (?), it can take a while to get to The Horn. Drive, ride, and hike. First by car from Ilanz, is a long and winding drive. Then continue on a mountain bike from the reservoir and finally tackle another hour and a half on foot. All of the routes included here are bolt protected. Beta on the trad (requiring gear placement) routes here is found in the climbing guidebook by Michi Illien (Published by Panico).
