Ban Be

Northwest Vietnam, VN

Ban Be is located in Mai Hich, a beautiful and quiet side valley 25 minutes by motorbike from Mai Chau Village. The imposing cliff boasts a tremendous overhang with endless tufas and pockets. Climbing on these formations is just FUN! When you need to recharge for the afternoon, there’s nothing better than a Vietnamese-style meal and siesta in nearby Minh Tho Homestay. If you’ve ticked everything on Ban Be or want to get higher up, check out Narwahl just around the corner. After a full day of climbing, note the local village Bia Hoi. Ban Be is limestone climbing as good as it gets, filled with pockets, tufas, crimps and corners. Be prepared for some unusual movement and 3D-climbing on the tufas. To climb at Ban Be, you will need 12 draws, a 60 meter rope and the ability to thread the anchor. Development at Ban Be began in 2017, and the crag has many more excellent lines waiting to be bolted. The crag is equipped with 12 mm marine graded stainless steel Fixe glue-in bolts. Ban Be faces north and is therefore always shaded. Routes are sheltered from rain by the big overhang above and stay dry as long as there is no wind. No entry fee is currently required to climb at Ban Be.
