Chabrouh

Mount-Lebanon, LB

__“CHABROUH”__ sector had its first couple of routes back in 2011 with the late John Redwine, Marcin Pius and Cedric Hofstetter. In 2019 and in collaboration with the LCA, several climbers developed new routes and all in all there are now 20 single pitch sports climbs, with more potential for trad climbs. __CLIMBING__ Vertical, slab and slightly overhanging rock. Short technical boulder routes. __GEAR__ 70 meters rope is required, 15 quickdraws. Trad gear in case you would like to climb some of the cracks. __CONDITIONS__ South facing sector at around 1550 meters above sea level, good for autumn and spring climbing. In summer the sector gets sun as off noon, and in winter the bottom of the cliff will be snowed out but with sun climbing will become pleasant. Between sector 2 & 3, you will find two small baby routes (TOM & JERRY) for kids. __CHABROUH HISTORY__ “John Redwine and Marcin Pius had already spent quite some time on this cliff in 2009 and 2010, bolting one route by hand and top-roping or trad climbing eight others. It was an obvious development choice, particularly later during times of access issues in the Kfardebian rock bridge crag. By 2011 they had equipped two sport climbing routes.” _-Marcin Pius_ Fast forward to 2019, when several developers in collaboration with the LCA added 18 more routes to this cliff, turning it into the latest addition to the climbing crags in Lebanon. “The cliff of Faraya - Chabrouh grabbed Michel and Pascale Matera’s attention during the many backcountry ski trips we took during winter 2019. I knew there were a couple of routes bolted there many years ago. On a sunny April day, we went to take a look and found great potential. The first anchor was installed in June 2019 (on what will be named ‘Le Rocher de Tanios’) and many other routes were developed during the summer and fall of 2019 by Pascale and Michel Matera, Nay Mezannar, Mansour Dib and Eddy Kazzi”. _-Mansour Dib_
