Prati di Groa

Liguria, IT

The Prati di Groa crag is in the municipality of Balestrino and is situated opposite Toirano, it was one of the first crags discovered by local climbers in the 1980s. A long time before Valle del Vero became popular, the first routes had already been bolted here, local climbers, however, kept the area to themselves. Only in 2008 the Toirano climbing group rediscovered the area and equipped three separate crags with several routes, all in different climbing styles. From slabs to sustained wall with tufas, and technical dihedral, the whole area is in the shades and this, along with exposure, allows to climb here in midsummer. Just above the parking area there is a wonderful view of the crags of Valle del Vero and Salto del Lupo, it is also possible to take a walk along the ridge above.
