Planetarium

Liguria, IT

The valley of the Rio Croso is just about visible from Vignolo but the huge quantity of rock just about everywhere won’t escape the trained climbers eye. There is Quartzite on the left and limestone on the right. Shortly before the Pass of Prione, isolated in the middle of meadows lies a yellow limestone cave, which has already attracted the attention of climbers in the 90’s.The place was and still is splendid. It is almost the ideal crag with short access, half of the day in the sun and green grass at the base but… Unfortunately Mother Nature didn’t provide any holds or more correctly gave the possible to climb only three or four lines of extremely high difficulty, which would be accessible to some top climbers today. However, unfortunately the crag was not left like that. In one season a couple of chisels remodelled this crag according to their imagination while using a similar template for all of the routes. So today the Planetarium has about 15 routes that lead up the overhangs of this cave. The chosen style is very athletic and difficult. The outcome is a crag ideal for the “8a climbers” but not for the 9.
