Pserimos
Kalymnos, GR
Pserimos island is a little dot on the map between Kalymnos, Kos, and the Turkish coast. At only 2,5 nautical miles away, it belongs to the municipality of Kalymnos. With very few permanent residents—80 people according to the latest census—Pserimos Island has no roads or cars and few tourists. The only inhabited village is Avlakia (above), built around a perfect beach on the south coast with shallow waters and golden, plush sand that you can sink your feet in. As they say locally, when in Pserimos “you don’t need shoes unless you’re on your way out”.
Notably, there is a large municipal summer camp for Greek and international Scouts on Pserimos. It was with these young people in mind that Claude Idoux developed a small crag with mostly easy, well-protected routes in June 2018. Of course, any and all climbers visiting Pserimos are welcome to enjoy the cliffs.
