Wicklow Coast

Ireland East,

The long stretch of coastline between Wicklow Town and Wicklow Head has some good - albeit very condition dependant - bouldering on very smooth schist. The low friction rock and the lack of positive holds, especially at the start of problems, makes for a very strenuous climbing style so its a good place for a full body workout. There are two distinct areas, the coves near the town and the two sectors (Stuck Cove and Seal Beach) further south. The two areas are within walking distance of each other but it’s quicker to drive from one parking spot to the other. The three coves south of the Castle contain some good, if a little lowball, bouldering with a sub two minute walk in. There is definitely more potential for new problems along this stretch of coast, some of which may only dry very rarely or be tricky to access.
