Annalecka

Ireland East,

When Seamus Crowley first discovered the bouldering in Annalecka in 2005 it was covered in a thick blanket of conifers, however in 2007 the trees were felled. This has opened up the area and allows the rock to dry quicker. Unfortunately the branches left by the foresters make getting from boulder to boulder a bit of a chore. Most of the problems are on outcrops rather than boulders, some are highball and all are in the 4/5/6 range. The rock probably isn’t the best in Wicklow, it’s very rough and there is a lot of quartz. The best problems are Half Dome, Just Do It and Sadhbh Menace.
