Windy Gap

Ireland East,

The Cooley Mountains stand as the counterpoint to The Mournes to the north. Most of the bouldering in Windy Gap is on dark gabbro outcrops and a few boulders. The hillside is vast and covered in rock so the following pages only cover some of the better known problems. The main advantage of Windy Gap is that the bouldering is very close to the road in contrast to the long Mournes walk ins. Unfortunately the gabbro tends to be rather sharp which will put some people off.
