Another new sandstone bouldering sector! And a quite nice one. It does not score with highest bouldering grades, but with natural beauty, a quiet location, and magnificent and bizarre sandstone formations. In this area highly silicified sandstone is associated with hardly compacted sand. This creates the bizarre formations, and a number of roofs. The rock underneath the roofs, however, is due to this lithological mixture typically very soft and not fit for climbing. Therefor the potential for harder grades is limited. But there are a number of really nice problems in the 6-grades that make a visit worthwhile. And for those with a favour for endurance problems, watch out: the area offers the longest (25 m!) bouldering traverse in the Harz area.
