Perun

Dalmatia, HR

Perun crag is located on the south side of the mountain 'Perun', named after the old Slavic god of thunder. Towards the northeast, the municipality of Podstrana is sheltered by the slopes of Perun hill (highest peak 'Križ' 533 m), which abounds with the remains of Illyrian culture, traces of pre-Slavic mythology and mediaeval chapels and graveyards. An abundance of adventure and recreation activities can be enjoyed on the numerous scenic walking and hiking trails that cover the hill, together with its many cycling trails, the via-Ferrata 'Perunika' and the climbing area on the southern rock of Veliki Perun and the mountain lodge. The routes are new and well bolted, perfect for families and everyone who wants to spend a peaceful day of climbing at a crag with a wide range of grades and a stunning view of the Adriatic sea and Split city. Most routes are vertical and slabs, but overhanging routes can be found in the sector 'Kafić'. The best times of year for climbing here are autumn, spring, and winter. The crag was developed with financial help of the tourism board of Podstrana. Most of the routes and the via ferrata were bolted by Iris Adventures, a local company offering numerous amazing adventure trips such as canyoning, kayaking, via ferrrata, and climbing (https://adventurescroatia.net/ ). The via ferrata is located to the left of the routes in 'Glava' sector. Info: http://visitpodstrana.hr/en/
