Vela Stiniva

Dalmatia, HR

This superb crag is located on the north side of the island and is a neighbour crag of 'Pokrivenik' crag on a marvellous cove called Vela Stiniva. So far, 96 sport are developed, well bolted with a comprehensive grade range and different climbing styles. Climbing is suitable all year round. 'Uz put' and 'Iznad puta' sectors are most suitable for children, beginners and learning the abseiling technique. 'Cave' sector is for those interested in 7th and 8th-grades who wish to test their power-endurance level. Some routes here could have more bolts. Rock is facing NE. Recommended routes: Lavanda, Zubatac, Tramuntana, Mediteranea, Free Willy, Shark. 'Morning Sun' and 'Above the cave' sectors are for those interested from 6a to 7a+ grades, rock is facing SE. 'Church' sector: Climbers from climbing club Hovrch from Nove Mesto in the Czech republic developed this sector with two routes so far, but the number will increase soon. They did a great job using glue-in bolts, so routes are safe in this harsh marine environment, but the routes don't have typical anchors, only two bolts at the top. Warning: Do not climb when people are swimming and walking on the rocky shore below you. It is advised to not climb in July and August, but you may catch an early option without swimmers below.
