Pokrivenik

Dalmatia, HR

On the north shore of the island of Hvar is a cove called Pokrivenik that is decorated with impressive cliffs and beautiful pebble beaches. There you will find three excellent climbing sectors. Pokrivenik is a peaceful crag, with only a few houses and camp 'Ivan' on the cove. Needless to say, the beach and clear sea on this cove are astonishing. The sectors are spread on both sides of the cove, making climbing possible even during summer. 'Posejdon' sector is in the shade in the morning, while 'Viewpoint' and 'Barba' are out of the sun in the afternoon. 'Viewpoint' and 'Barba' are located on the west side of the cove, whereas 'Posejdon' is on the east side, facing north-west. The routes require both endurance and technical skills. Approach to the sectors takes 5-10 minutes and the routes are up to 30 meters. A 70 m long rope and 15 quickdraws are recommended. Trails to the sectors pass through private land and parking is limited, so please respect the locals. As you may have guessed, climbing at Pokrivenik is a must if you are on Hvar or in Dalmatia.
