Lučišća

Dalmatia, HR

This crag is situated above the picturesque Lučišća bay. The first routes bolted at the crag were moderate multi-pitch routes (three at sector 'Mač' and one at 'Ruža vjetrova), but recently more challenging single pitch routes have been established. In particular, Roko Roić has put considerable effort into bringing to life the sector 'Ruža vjetrova', a world-class overhanging beast. In English, it translates as 'Wind rose', a tool used by sea dwellers to graphically show the predominate winds at a location. The conditions while bolting were wild, and the sector named itself. The crag faces west-north-west and can be climbed all through the year. In summer, it is in the shade until 15:30h and again later in the day. Belayers and children will be protected from the sun by the canyon. Parking – Parking for up to 10 cars is available on the dirt road below. Approach – Walking 15-20min Season – All year Climbing – Moderate, Hard and Elite Children – Approach a bit steep but manageable. Equipment – up to 80m rope, up to 20 quickdraws. The routes have been cleaned, but they need traffic. Please wear helmet as more rock is expected to fall. The crag is open, as are all of the projects at it, so please check the app for updated routes. If you climb a project, please contact me or log your ascent on the Vertical-Life app to keep the info up to date. Please do not place bolts without consulting with us, as we are trying to make sure that the equipment used is adequate for a marine environment. Most routes were bolted by Roko Roić and Klemen Bečan. Thanks also to all others who helped in any way, namely Matija Baotić, Fabijan Belić, Marco Francesco Ristić, Ivan Ljubičić and Marija Marjan. And lastly, thanks to the organisations that helped finance this: Hive Climbing Gym Zagreb, Tourism Board Jelsa and Tourism Board Starigrad.
