Smokovlje

Dalmatia, HR

Smokovlje is a new climbing spot developed by a local climberfrom Brač, Milan Karmelić and Croatian climbing legend, Ivan Lisica. It is located 4 km from the picturesque Bol village on Brač island. It is equipped with the help of local authorities and the city of Bol. The rock is of very good quality, and routes are mostly vertical but there is a potential for much more routes, most of them will be on the overhanging part of the rock. Routes go up to 20 meters high but there are also some up to 12 meters high. It is mostly winter crag because of orientation which is southwest-south-southeast. Routes are equipped with marine inox material and perfectly bolted. On this spot predominantly we can find easier routes but there is a place for hard ones too. The potential for new routes is still not fulfilled, so local climbers will continue to develop this crag with the best quality material cos of the harsh marine environment. Opening new routes is possible only with marine inox material and in coordination with the municipal authorities of Bol, Brač.
