El Condado

Asturias, ES

El Condado was the first crag to be set up for sport climbing in the Nalón Valley. In the 1980´s Chema Fernandez, following in the footsteps of Pérez in Pedriza, started to bolt this nice corner above the Nalón river. Subsequently, the Menéndez brothers continued to bolt the area and opened up new routes, while, in the 90´s, Chema and Arturo del Campo improved on the existing routes. Eventually, the work done to the road adjacent to the crag prevented its expansion. Nowadays, thanks of the work of David and Deivo, this nice and peculiar crag has been recovered. Best season: You can climb all year round. Spring and autumn are the best seasons. In winter, you can climb in the middle of the day, meanwhile in summer it is best to climb in late evening.
