Acrotiri (cape)

Acrotiri is an idyllic scenery, on the western part of the island, in a pasture meadow. From here, Ikaria seems like a boat floating on the open sea. Heading further down, one can visit Cape Pappas, historical and cultural monument of the island, with the lighthouse and a breathtaking view to the Ikarian Sea. Built on hard limestone, the cape is exposed to huge waves that do not manage to spoil it. Moreover, the cape is a wonderful passage and station for immigrant birds and is declared a protected Important Bird Area.
