Princess Canyon

Kalymnos, GR

A secluded, faraway crag tucked away in the Telendos South Face and surrounded by stunning wild beauty. Like sector Symplegades, it is a gorge with cliffs of premium quality—but Princess Canyon is much larger and much further away. In 2014, The North Face athletes added 15 lines for that year’s climbing festival, many of which saw their FAs by the “Climbing Legends:” Gerhard Hörhager, Yuji Hirayama, Jean-Baptiste Tribout, Patxi Arocena, Ben Moon, and Boone Speed (as well as the not-yet-legendary Alexander Megos). The problem, though, is that just as with sectors Skalia Cave and Psili Riza, The North Face selected a venue that is very far, very hard to approach, and excludes 99% of climbers. Therefore Princess Canyon never gets visitors. __Why is this an app-only crag? __ A very long walk-in on the wild side of Telendos (also requires scrambling to get there!). Rarely, if ever, visited. __Climbing__ On slabs of good quality and slightly overhanging, fully pocketed walls. __Conditions__ Only some routes have shade all day, mostly the ones beneath the north-facing boulders (Waxy Wall). Which makes the crag best for mild winter days, spring, and fall. __Shade__ Exposure: S, N Varies; all day at parts. __Kids __ No. __Busy__ 1/3
