Afternoon

Kalymnos, GR

Afternoon is a beautiful grey slab to the left of Grande Grotta with a diverse assortment of climbs from 4a to 7b+. If you can lead 5c to 6a, you will really enjoy it—but there are also really good 6bs and 6cs here. Afternoon is also great for warming up before hitting the surreal overhangs of Grande Grotta. Furthermore, it faces northwest, so it is good for climbing on hot summer days. The crag was extended significantly in spring 2022, when nearly 20 new routes (5c to 7b) were added on the right side by Aris Theodoropoulos, George Kopalides, Claude Idoux, Pierre Cier, Kostas Grafanakis, and Andrey Skripnichenko. A great grey slab left of Grande Grotta with a wide grade range, something for everyone, and 20 worthwhile new routes on the right. __Busy__ 3/3 __Climbing__ On vertical or slightly off-vertical grey rock. Pleasant slabs, quality walls, and some superb long pitches. __Conditions__ Relatively cool. Good for climbing on hot days. Exposed to rainfall and the north wind, though. __Shade (Exposure: NW)__ Until 13:30 (left) or until 16:00 (right). __Kids__ OK. If the long and steep path is not a problem, there are some suitable areas.
