Mouzaki is the most popular sport climbing venue of Central Greece. The crag is on a natural balcony overlooking the Pamisos River valley, and some routes are so outstanding that they attract climbers, like bees to honey, from all over the country. The very active Trikala-based climbers (mainly Pascuale Zafiriadis with Tasos Georgitsis, Nikos Theodorou, Stefanos Motitsios, Nikos Gazos and Lazaros Botelis) have put a lot of work into equipping the crag: they used stainless-steel bolts and clipable lower-offs, leveled the terrain beneath the main crag, laid gravel, built a picnic table, fixed steps onto the steep bits of the path, and, last but not least, built a wooden cabin beneath the cliffs which sleeps 6-8 people and stays unlocked at all times. Please respect their hard work by protecting the crag and cleaning up after yourselves!
From there, do not take the ring road to Trikala, but follow the local road to Argithea/Mouzaki instead (30km).
Mouzaki is 11km from Pyli. From Pyli, drive towards Trikala. After 3.7km you will come to Paleomonastiro village. Turn right. Drive another 4km to the town of Mouzaki. Go down the main road towards Argithea and Lake Plastira. Approximately 2km outside town, turn right onto an uphill road towards Porti. At the second big leftward turn (0.5km), park on the right-hand side (39.414057, 21.664544). There is a sign to the crag and room for 5-6 cars. From there, follow the clear, well-marked path to the cliffs. If you are driving from Athens and want your first stop to be Mouzaki, not Pyli, drive as for Pyli until you get to Karditsa.
