A superb sector for climbers seeking 30m 7th grade climbs! Orientation: northeast — shade after mid-morning.
From the recycling bins, 350m from the junction with the T-713, drive along the valley road for approximately 1.4km (passing many of the roadside sectors on the way) then turn right onto a narrow concrete-surfaced track. Follow this downhill keeping right at the first junction and left at the second, for some 300m to reach ample parking areas just after crossing the river (P2). On foot, follow paths downstream for approximately 370m to reach an open area next to the river where several paths meet. Take the left-hand path and follow this uphill to the base of the sector (12 minutes from P2).
Margalef is a small village located on the T-713 road, approximately 40km northwest of Reus. The climbing sectors can roughly be split into two areas: 1) The valley below the Margalef reservoir, a few kilometres east of the village — the entrance to this is between Km-6 and Km-7 on the T-713 and a narrow road runs along the valley bottom as far as the reservoir. Approximately 350m from the T-713 there are some waste recycling containers and this is the starting point from where all sector approaches are described. 2) The valley known as El Barranc de Sant Salvador, to the south of the village. To access this cross the River Montsant by a road bridge in the centre of the village then follow a single-track road past the Hotel ‘Tres Pins’ and up into the valley.
