Coumshingaun

Southern Ireland, IE

Coumshingaun, one of the most spectacular corries in Europe, is ringed with cliffs of rough conglomerate. The impressive east wall is home to a handful of hard adventure climbs. The south wall, while well positioned suffers from less than perfect rock. It’s on the north facing crag where the best climbing is to be found. On first impression the rock doesn’t look inspiring but it’s actually quite clean and interesting to climb. The routes are steep, most follow cracks and corners and are well protected. Two 50m ropes are required for the abseil descents.
