SKIADIANIKO is one of the biggest crags n Leonidio with routes in a wide variety of grades and climbing styles for every climber. That said, the majority of routes are in the easy and mid-grades (4b–6b).
The cliff is on the right side of a sweeping rock face opposite (north of) Elona, with unobstructed views of the monastery. The lovely old path to the crag was part of the original path connnecting Elona to Vaskina village.
Climbing: On very good, solid limestone, despite the newness of the routes. Left: massive low-angle slabs with easy routes (4b–6a). Middle and upper part: an overhanging cave with stalactites and long tufa snakes (6c+–7c+), Right: the most popular section, with exciting climbing and routes from 6a–7b on highly featured rock. Routes were equipped via the AOS Project (2015/16).
Kids: Good. A beautiful path, and suitable terrain at some parts of the crag.
Gear: A single 70m rope and 18 QDs.
Conditions: Best on cloudy days in spring and autumn, or on sunny days in winter.
Walk 50m further, then go down to the right, cross the river, and follow the old path marked with blue marks and cairns. Walking time: 20 min.
From Leonidio, drive in the direction of Kosmas village. About 11,5km outside Leonidio, pass a stone bridge and continue for another 400m. Park on the right, at a plateau with a little shrine (37.149276, 22.768332).
