A new and popular crag, Voulismeno Aloni is only 14km from downtown Heraklion, the capital of Crete. It is a massive circular sinkhole likely created by the collapse of a cavern roof, with a maximum diameter of 90m and a depth of 15-50m.
Cross the road and you will see the crag ahead.
The crag is 14km from Heraklion. From the port of Heraklion, follow the coastal road heading west towards Chania. When you come to a large stadium (Pankritio), follow the signs towards Gazi. At the traffic light past Gazi, continue straight ahead towards Anogeia. Drive past Arolithos Hotel, and at the next junction turn right towards Marathos–Damasta. Approx. 3km further, there is a sign to the crag. Park your vehicle on the left-hand side before the hairpin turn (35.329537, 25.017189).
