The crag „Dolomitenhütte“ got its name from the hut, which is located near the exit of some routes of the sector „Hüttenklapf“. This crag ranks among the largest areas in Osttirol (East Tyrol) and is very popular. The climbing mainly consists of endurance routes on crimps and slopers. The only downside is the base of the wall, which is quite steep on some spots and, therefore, not suitable for families.
The road to the Dolomitenhütte is a toll road after the Kreithof.
For sectors E und F follow the forest road. Sector E is located just left of the Dolomitenhütte. For sector F keep following the forest road until you reach a well. Turn right onto a path there, pass the Alpenraute-Hütte to its left and walk down on the trail to reach the rocks.
For sectors A to D there are 2 options. It is possible to follow a trail which starts directly at the parking lot and leads through the forest to a barbed wire fence. From there, continue on ladders and a fixed rope down to the walls.
The second and less demanding approach starts in the curve before the parking lot. Follow a wide path for about 50 meters until a difficult-to-see trail branches off to the right. This trail leads to the crag in about 10 minutes.
From Lienz drive towards Tristach/Tristacher See. After exiting Tristach turn right in the direction of the Dolomitenhütte. Follow a road upward for a few turns, pass Lake Tristach and Kreithof until the parking of the hut is reached after a few kilometers.
